Former Singaporean politician Tang Liang Hong, 90, died in Australia; he faced defamation lawsuits after 1997 election allegations.
Tang Liang Hong, a 90-year-old former Workers' Party politician and 1997 Cheng San GRC candidate, died on September 15, 2025.
He ran in a losing campaign against the PAP, facing allegations of being an anti-Christian Chinese chauvinist, which he denied and responded to with police reports.
He was later sued for defamation by multiple PAP leaders, including Goh Chok Tong and Lee Kuan Yew, and found liable.
After leaving Singapore, he lived in Australia until his death.
His wake was held October 2–4, followed by a private farewell service on October 5.
The cause of death was not disclosed.
