Delhi High Court halts suspension of Ramanujan College principal, citing due process violations and improper procedures.
The Delhi High Court has stayed the suspension of Ramanujan College Principal Rasal Singh, ruling that the university violated due process by failing to provide him a hearing and bypassing the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), which holds jurisdiction under the 2013 Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act.
The court found the suspension, ordered on September 23, 2025, unjustified and improper, noting the ICC was not consulted and the committee that recommended it was improperly constituted.
The case will now be reviewed by the ICC, which is tasked with conducting a proper inquiry.
The court emphasized procedural fairness and acknowledged Singh’s strong academic record.
A further hearing is scheduled for October 15, 2025.
