Two people were seriously injured in a deer-related crash on Highway 136 near Stanberry, Missouri, early Thursday morning.
A 24-year-old driver from Maryville swerved to avoid a deer, lost control, and struck the animal, causing the vehicle to crash.
The 18-year-old passenger from St. Joseph was also seriously injured and both were transported to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.
The accident occurred just after 1:45 a.m. in Gentry County, and neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.
The car sustained major damage and was towed.
The highway remained open.
