Comet Lemmon (C/2025 A6), discovered in January 2025, is rapidly brightening and could become visible to the naked eye by late October, reaching an estimated brightness of magnitude 2.5.
It will make its closest approach to Earth on October 21 and to the Sun on November 8, passing near Cor Caroli and remaining circumpolar in the Northern Hemisphere.
Though currently visible only through binoculars, it may be seen without optical aid under dark skies, especially around the October 21 New Moon.
Observers are advised to view away from city lights for best results.
