Chinese micro-dramas are driving a surge in overseas revenue for China’s audiovisual industry, which reached over $63 billion from 2021 to 2025.
With platforms available in more than 200 countries and over 300 international micro-drama apps, popular titles like Welcome to Milele and Minning Town are gaining global traction.
Domestic production grew rapidly, with 150,000 micro-dramas made between 2021 and 2024 and a user base of 696 million by July 2025.
