Canada's top curling teams compete in a simulated Olympic trial in Calgary to secure final 2026 Winter Games spots.
The 2025 PointsBet Invitational in Calgary has been restructured as a high-stakes simulation for Canada’s top curling teams ahead of the November Olympic trials in Halifax, which will determine the nation’s 2026 Winter Games representatives.
With 14 of 16 trial spots already secured, seven men’s and seven women’s teams are competing in a modified format featuring four round-robin games and a final, using identical ice and equipment to replicate trial conditions.
The event, reduced to 20 teams from 32, includes a NextGen component for younger players and offers a $300,000 prize.
Teams like Brad Gushue are using the event to gain crucial experience under trial-like pressure, with the final two Olympic spots to be decided at the upcoming Home Hardware Canadian Pre-Trials in Wolfville.
