A Brooklyn man was charged in a gang shooting that killed three and injured 10 at a bar in August 2025.
A 25-year-old Brooklyn man, Elijah Roy, has been charged in connection with a gang-related shooting at a Brooklyn bar on August 17, 2025, that killed three people and injured 10 others.
Federal prosecutors say Roy, a member of the 5-9 Brims gang, allegedly fired two shots during a shootout that erupted after a 19-year-old gang associate taunted a rival gang member.
The victims included the associate, the rival gang member, and a 27-year-old bystander.
Roy was arrested in North Carolina with $7,000 in cash and is charged with violent assault in aid of racketeering and illegal possession of ammunition.
He was ordered held without bail.
The incident occurred during a period of record-low gun violence in New York City, with the first nine months of 2025 seeing the fewest shootings and victims on record.
Mayor Eric Adams said the shooting did not reflect the city’s overall safety trend.
