Azerbaijan starts building its largest solar plant, 445 MW, with Chinese panels and UAE support, aiming for completion by 2026.
Azerbaijan has begun construction on its largest solar power plant in Bilasuvar, installing the first panel at the 445 MW facility, which will span 1,400 hectares and use over 943,000 high-efficiency panels from China’s JA Solar.
Developed with UAE’s Masdar, the plant will feature single-axis tracking and automated cleaning systems, with full grid connection expected by end of 2026 and initial power delivery in early 2026.
It aims to supply 4–5% of Azerbaijan’s electricity and support the nation’s goal of 40% renewable energy by 2030, advancing its energy transition and regional green initiatives like the Trans-Caspian Green Corridor.
