The Weekender Program for Students, a Brockville, Ont., initiative serving students from JK to Grade 12, has relocated to Loaves and Fishes, a non-profit restaurant, after its previous host downsized.
The move, finalized September 30, 2025, ensures the program can continue issuing charitable tax receipts.
Founded by Laura Roobol in 2015, it provides about 378 weekend food bags weekly to students across 22 schools, having delivered over 78,000 bags.
The program runs on a $117,000 annual budget and 23 volunteers, with support from United Way Leeds and Grenville.
Both organizations share a mission to combat food insecurity, and the partnership is seen as vital to sustaining the program’s impact.
