Vår Energi now owns 52.3% of Norway’s Ekofisk project, expanding its stake to boost oil output through 2030.
Vår Energi has increased its stake in Norway’s Ekofisk PPF project to 52.3% by acquiring TotalEnergies’ share, expanding from 12.4%.
The redevelopment aims to extend the life of the historic Ekofisk field using new subsea infrastructure and horizontal drilling, targeting first production by late 2028.
The project could unlock about 38 million barrels of oil equivalent in reserves and supports Vår Energi’s goal to maintain output of 350,000 to 400,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day through 2030.
A final investment decision is expected in late 2025.
The licence partners are now ConocoPhillips (35.1%, operator), Vår Energi (52.3%), DNO (7.6%), and Petoro (5%).
