Two people died in a head-on crash on Highway 212 near Joliet, Montana, on September 29, 2025, around 7:25 p.m. A southbound Chevrolet Suburban struck a horse, crossed the centerline, and collided with a northbound Chevrolet Malibu.
The Suburban overturned and caught fire, killing both drivers.
The Malibu driver, a 28-year-old Texas woman not wearing a seatbelt, was identified only by age and state of residence.
The Suburban driver’s identity remains undisclosed.
The Montana Highway Patrol suspects alcohol may have played a role, but no confirmation has been made.
It is unknown if the horse survived.
