Former U.S. President Donald Trump said not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize would be a "big insult" to the United States, claiming credit for resolving seven or eight conflicts since returning to office in January 2025, including a recently announced Gaza peace plan with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.
He asserted his role in ending wars between India and Pakistan, Cambodia and Thailand, and others, though experts and fact-checkers dispute many of the claims.
Despite international nominations from leaders in Pakistan, Israel, and elsewhere, the Norwegian Nobel Committee maintains its independence from political pressure, with officials calling Trump’s chances "completely unthinkable."
The prize will be announced on October 10.
