Tillsonburg will preserve parts of the old Kinsmen Bridge as a memorial, install a new streetlight, and fund a community pantry.
Tillsonburg town council has decided to preserve and repurpose parts of the old Kinsmen Bridge as a memorial by lowering its towers to the ground for safer dismantling, leaving a significant portion intact. Salvaged sections may be installed near the Participark Trail or Veteran’s Memorial Walkway, with costs of $5,000 to $20,000—both within budget. The town also signed a three-year agreement with Station Arts to operate a community pantry offering free food and hygiene items, with a $48,070 2025 contribution from the town, adjusted for inflation. Additionally, a new streetlight will be installed on Peach Street between Kara Lane and Magnolia Street to improve safety, funded by the Tax Rate Stabilization Reserve.
