Romanian worker arrested at Dublin Airport with 19.3kg of cannabis, faces drug charges.
A 33-year-old Romanian construction worker, Alexandru Petcu, was remanded in custody after being arrested at Dublin Airport on September 30 for allegedly smuggling 19.3 kilograms of herbal cannabis worth about €380,000.
Gardaí, with Revenue assistance, found the drugs in Terminal 1.
He faces three charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act related to possession, importation, and intent to supply.
Appearing before Judge Treasa Kelly at Dublin District Court on October 1, Petcu, who earns €400 monthly in Romania, made no reply, used an interpreter, and has not entered a plea.
His defense counsel confirmed no bail was sought.
Judge Kelly granted legal aid and ordered him held until his next court date on October 8.
