Republican state Sen. Greg Dolezal of Cumming has entered Georgia’s lieutenant governor race, joining a crowded field of GOP candidates vying for the influential position.
Dolezal, a four-term senator who reached his term limit in 2025, is running as a hard-line MAGA candidate, pledging to eliminate diversity initiatives, remove prosecutors deemed “soft on crime,” and ban transgender athletes from girls’ sports.
He gained national attention for leading efforts to challenge Georgia’s 2020 election results and sponsoring the Riley Gaines Act.
Other Republican contenders include Rep. David Clark and Sen. Blake Tillery, both emphasizing conservative social and immigration policies.
Democrat Josh McLaurin is the only Democratic candidate.
