Ontario changes electricity rates Nov. 1, 2025, shifting peak times to mornings and evenings.
Starting November 1, 2025, Ontario will switch from summer to winter time-of-use electricity rates, shifting peak usage times to reflect higher demand in the morning and evening.
On-peak hours will be 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, with mid-peak from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Off-peak rates, the lowest, apply all day on weekends and holidays.
The Ontario Energy Board will announce annual rates in mid-October.
Consumers can reduce bills by shifting usage to off-peak times, using energy-efficient appliances, or taking advantage of ultra-low overnight rates for electric vehicle charging.
