New Zealand firefighters will strike on October 17 over unresolved pay, staffing, and equipment issues, following a 99% rejection of a 5.1% pay rise over three years.
The New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union says members haven’t received a raise since July 2023 and cite mental health concerns from understaffing and excessive overtime.
