A journalist was injured after being pushed by ICE agents outside a NYC immigration court during heightened enforcement.
A journalist was injured Tuesday outside a New York City immigration court when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents reportedly pushed him and others in a public hallway at 26 Federal Plaza.
L. Vural Elibol, a visual journalist with Anadolu Agency, hit his head after being shoved and was treated on-site before being hospitalized in a neck brace.
Two other journalists were also pushed but not seriously injured.
The incident occurred during heightened immigration enforcement under President Trump’s policies, with Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin defending the agents’ actions, citing operational security and obstruction by journalists and activists.
The event has raised concerns about press safety and access to public court proceedings.
