Idaho honors fallen firefighter Isabella Oscarson, who died Sept. 26 after a tree fell during a prescribed burn.
Idaho Governor Brad Little has ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Isabella Oscarson, a seasonal firefighter with the Idaho Department of Lands who died September 26, 2025, after being struck by a falling tree during a prescribed burn near Kooskia.
The incident occurred during a U.S. Forest Service project in the Nez-Perce Clearwater National Forests.
Oscarson, a native of Minnesota, was transported to Grangeville for treatment but later died.
Flags will remain at half-staff from September 27 through sunrise on October 5 at state and local government buildings, including the Idaho Capitol.
Governor Little expressed sorrow over her death, praising her service and extending condolences to her family, friends, and firefighting colleagues.
