GE delivers fourth F404 engine to India under $1B deal for Tejas Mk1A fighters, with first delivery set for Oct 2025.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has received the fourth F404-IN20 engine from GE Aerospace, part of a $1 billion contract for 113 engines to power India’s Light Combat Aircraft Tejas Mk1A.
The deal, expected to be signed in October 2025, includes 68 single-seat and 29 twin-seat fighters, with deliveries starting in 2027–28.
Three Tejas Mk1A aircraft are ready for final trials, with the first delivery targeted for October 2025.
The agreement supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat defense indigenization goals, with ongoing talks for 80% technology transfer of F414 engines for future projects like the LCA Mk2 and AMCA.
