A Florida man was charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a college student at a Missouri homecoming event.
A 23-year-old Florida man, Misael Covarrubias, has been charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Stephens College student Aiyanna Williams during a homecoming event in Columbia, Missouri.
The incident occurred on September 27, 2025, when Covarrubias fired 11 shots, injuring three people, one of whom died.
Williams, who was on life support to donate organs, passed away on September 30.
Covarrubias faces additional charges including first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
He remains jailed without bond, with hearings scheduled for October 7 and November 6.
Prosecutors upgraded the charge after reviewing evidence.
