Australia’s media watchdog fined Kyle and Jackie O for 7 new decency breaches in 2024, citing explicit content and poor oversight.
Australia’s media watchdog, the ACMA, has found the Kyle and Jackie O Show guilty of seven new decency breaches between August and December 2024, bringing the total to 12 for the year.
The investigation uncovered repeated broadcasts of vulgar, sexually explicit, and offensive content, including a urination guessing game with graphic comments, discussions of masturbation and pornography, and explicit remarks about bodily functions.
Despite prior warnings and added censors, the ACMA concluded ARN Media, the show’s parent company, appears unwilling or unable to control the content.
The watchdog is considering enforcement actions, including fines or license restrictions, while the Albanese government proposes reforms to strengthen ACMA’s powers.
The show, which airs in Melbourne and Sydney, has faced declining ratings and advertising, though it remains popular with over 1.6 million weekly listeners.
