Angel Yeast has opened the world’s first high-altitude probiotic facility on China’s Qing-Zang Plateau, producing unique strains like Bifidobacterium lactis XZ-BI36 and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum under oxygen-free conditions.
Built in one year despite harsh conditions, the plant in Shannan, Xizang, now manufactures seven plateau-origin strains and over ten formulations for food, feed, and fermentation.
Strains come from yaks, traditional foods, and local people, with 2,000 strains preserved and 56 global patents filed.
The project employs 54 local residents, trains over 200 people, and partners with 30+ distributors, advancing sustainable biotech innovation.
