Voters in Johnstown will re-vote on an $11M solar project that promises savings and no tax hikes.
The Greater Johnstown School District is holding a re-vote on an $11 million solar project that would install a 2-megawatt solar array on district land, generating enough energy to cover 110% of its electricity use.
Fully funded through federal incentives and guaranteed savings, the project would bring $8.62 million in state aid over 15 years and up to $3 million in federal incentives, with no tax increases.
John W. Danforth Co. will build and maintain the system for up to 18 years, guaranteeing savings and covering shortfalls.

Voters will decide at the JPAC auditorium from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., following a narrow July defeat.
