Vancouver picks architects for new art gallery at Larwill Park, replacing old courthouse.
The Vancouver Art Gallery has chosen Vancouver-based Formline Architecture and Toronto’s KPMB Architects to design its new downtown facility at Larwill Park, replacing its aging courthouse home.
Selected from 14 firms, the team will develop a conceptual design by 2026.
The project, the city’s largest cultural infrastructure effort in over 30 years, follows the cancellation of a previous $600 million Herzog & de Meuron plan due to budget overruns.
The new design will emphasize Indigenous heritage, community, and sustainability.
No budget, timeline, or opening date has been released.
