UCI completes purchase of OCMA, renaming it and integrating it with its art institute.
The University of California, Irvine has finalized its acquisition of the Orange County Museum of Art in Costa Mesa, renaming it the UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art.
The museum, which includes a $98 million building and over 9,000 artworks, will integrate with UCI’s existing Langson Institute & Museum of California Art, with a shuttle linking the two sites.
All former staff are now UCI employees, and programming through 2026 will continue unchanged.
The university is seeking a new executive director after Heidi Zuckerman’s departure.
The move fulfills UCI’s long-term goal of housing its extensive art collections and strengthens its role in Orange County’s cultural landscape.
