Thailand launches 60-billion-baht stimulus with cash payments and debt relief after floods from storm Bualoi.
Thailand has launched a 60-billion-baht stimulus package, “Kon La Krueng Plus,” to support over 33 million citizens, including welfare recipients, taxpayers, and non-taxpayers, with cash payments via the “Pao Tang” app starting in October. Welfare recipients get 2,000 baht monthly, taxpayers receive government-covered co-payments of 2,400 baht, and non-taxpayers get direct 2,000 baht top-ups, funded from 2025 and 2026 budgets. The government also plans debt relief for small retail debtors with up to 100,000 baht in debt, with state compensation for bank interest. The measures follow storm Bualoi’s landfall in Vietnam, causing floods in 17 Thai provinces, 269,000 affected, and seven deaths.
