Scotland opens £10M energy transition hub in Aberdeen to train 1,000 workers in renewables over five years.
Scotland has opened its largest energy transition skills hub in Aberdeen, a £10 million facility funded by the Scottish and UK governments, Shell UK, and other partners, aimed at training 1,000 people in renewable energy jobs over five years.
The hub, featuring a welding academy, advanced manufacturing zone, and digital training suites, is part of broader efforts to support a just transition for workers in oil and gas regions.
It coincides with £8.5 million in funding for four clean energy infrastructure projects in the North East, including offshore wind and supply chain developments, and an additional £450,000 for training 300 workers in sustainable energy careers.
The initiatives are part of Scotland’s strategy to strengthen its clean energy workforce and ensure regional economic resilience.
