Norway plans to strengthen ties with China in the maritime sector and seafood trade, state secretary Even Tronstad Sagebakken said, highlighting China’s role as Norway’s top shipbuilder and key market.
He emphasized shared goals in sustainable shipping, referencing the 2003 maritime agreement and recent cooperation at Nor-Shipping 2025.
Norway will be guest country of honor at Marintec China in December 2025.
The nations also expanded seafood trade, with China approving live Norwegian snow crab imports, as both sides aim to grow sustainable exports.
The cooperation follows the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations marked in 2024.
