Jindal Steel expands Odisha plant, adding 3 million tonnes of annual steel capacity.
Jindal Steel has commissioned a 3 million tonne per year basic oxygen furnace at its Angul plant in Odisha, boosting crude steel capacity to 9 million tonnes annually.
The new 250 MT converter, which uses gaseous oxygen to process molten iron, successfully completed its first heat tap.
This expansion, part of a ₹20,000 crore investment plan, aims to raise the site’s total capacity to 12 MTPA, positioning it as one of India’s largest single-site steel facilities.
The upgrades support downstream production and strengthen domestic steel output for key industries.
