Jan De Nul has ordered the George W. Goethals, its largest rock installation vessel, to protect critical subsea energy and data infrastructure.
The 37,000-tonne ship, designed for depths up to 400 meters, features hybrid power, biofuel and green methanol-compatible engines, and advanced rock-laying systems.
It will operate in the North Sea and Southeast Asia, supporting offshore wind and interconnector projects.
The vessel is part of a broader effort to safeguard vulnerable subsea cables from damage and sabotage.
