Ireland recalls 180g Macroom Buffalo buffaloumi cheese over Listeria risk; return for refund.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has recalled a specific batch of Macroom Buffalo buffaloumi cheese due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The 180g packs, with a best-before date of January 20, 2026, are being pulled from shelves nationwide.
Retailers, wholesalers, and distributors must remove the product, post recall notices, and notify customers.
Consumers are advised not to eat it and to return it for a refund.
Listeria can cause flu-like or gastrointestinal symptoms and may lead to severe complications in pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms may appear 3 to 70 days after exposure, with an average incubation period of three weeks.
The FSAI urges immediate return of the product.
