Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan urged India to strengthen defenses against emerging biological threats and radiological contamination from nuclear weapons, citing rising risks in the post-pandemic era.
Speaking at the Military Nursing Service’s 100th Raising Day in New Delhi, he stressed the need for specialized medical protocols, training, and readiness, even if nuclear use remains unlikely.
Chauhan reaffirmed India’s deterrence stance and highlighted the MNS’s century-long role in combat, humanitarian missions, and inter-service cooperation.
He also called for better mental health support for medical personnel and greater jointness across the armed forces.
