The China Now Music Festival at Lincoln Center showcased U.S.-China cultural ties through performances and premieres by Chinese composers.
The eighth annual China Now Music Festival at Lincoln Center celebrated U.S.-China cultural exchange through music, featuring performances by The Orchestra Now conducted by Jindong Cai and premieres of works by Chinese composers, including Yu Mengshi’s The Lonely Camel Calf.
The event highlighted longstanding ties between American and Chinese musicians, referencing the Philadelphia Orchestra’s 1973 visit to China and a 2005 Kennedy Center festival that introduced hundreds of Chinese artists to the U.S. A panel discussion centered on the Bard East/West Ensemble, formed in 2022 to blend Chinese and Western instruments, which recently toured China.
