flag Black Sheep Egg Co. recalls free-range eggs over salmonella risk; check dates and UPCs.

Black Sheep Egg Company is recalling 12- and 18-count cartons of free-range large brown eggs due to possible salmonella contamination. The recall covers products with best-by dates from August 22 to October 31, distributed in Arkansas and Missouri between July 9 and September 17, with UPC codes 860010568507 and 860010568538. The FDA found salmonella in 40 samples from the processing site, including seven strains known to cause human illness, though no current outbreak is linked. Consumers, restaurants, and retailers should not consume, serve, or sell the eggs and should discard or return them. Symptoms of infection include diarrhea, fever, and cramps, appearing 12 to 72 hours after ingestion and lasting four to seven days, with higher risk for young children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals.
