Woolworths NZ's checkout "round up" campaign from Sept 29 to Oct 12, 2025, supports food rescue groups and fights waste, aiming to fund over $1M in grants.
Woolworths New Zealand is running a checkout “round up” campaign from September 29 to October 12, 2025, to support food rescue organizations and reduce food waste, aligning with the UN’s International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Waste. Proceeds will help fund over $1 million in grants to about 30 food rescue groups across Aotearoa, supporting efforts to distribute safe, edible surplus food. The company has already donated more than 4,000 tonnes of surplus food—equivalent to over eight million meals valued at more than $20 million—to charities like KiwiHarvest and Kai Puku. Woolworths also sponsors events for the Aotearoa Food Rescue Alliance and contributes more than $7 million annually in food, funding, and sponsorships. With over 185 stores and 21,000 employees, the company continues to focus on food security, sustainability, and community resilience.
