A West Wales Texel ram lamb sold for 20,000 guineas, setting a record at the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sale in Builth Wells, which generated over £2.5 million—25% more than last year—with a 92% clearance rate.
The top lamb, one of 12 yearling Teilo Texels from the Davies family, was bought by Bruce Renwick for his Castlecairn flock.
Other breeds also saw strong prices, including Blue Faced Leicester, Suffolk, Charollais, and Cheviot lambs, reflecting robust demand despite ongoing challenges like bluetongue, regulatory hurdles, and inheritance tax concerns.
