Vice President Vance told Russia to end its war in Ukraine, citing massive casualties and urging Moscow to accept reality.
Vice President JD Vance urged Russia to "wake up and accept reality" in its war against Ukraine, stressing that the U.S. remains committed to peace but insists Moscow recognize the conflict’s high human and economic costs.
Speaking on Fox News, Vance cited over 250,000 Russian and 60,000 to 100,000 Ukrainian military deaths, along with thousands of civilian casualties, as evidence of the war’s unsustainable toll.
He criticized Russian President Putin for refusing to meet with President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky, questioning how many more lives Russia is willing to sacrifice for minimal gains.
His comments followed Trump’s assertion that Ukraine can reclaim all its territory with Western support, calling Russia a "paper tiger," though Trump has previously suggested territorial concessions might be necessary.
The war, which began in February 2022, continues in regions including Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson, with conflicting claims on battlefield progress and economic impact between U.S. and Russian narratives.
