Twelve NHS staff climb Kilimanjaro to honor Dr. Stephan Hugo and raise funds for a hospital garden.
Twelve NHS staff from Glan Clwyd Hospital are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to honor Dr. Stephan Hugo, a former consultant anaesthetist who died at 60 from lung disease.
The team, many of whom were mentored by Hugo, is completing the 5,895-meter trek in his memory after he passed before fulfilling his planned climb with his daughter Marni.
They are raising funds for the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit Garden Project, aiming for £12,000, with over £8,000 already collected.
The climb, which includes extreme altitude and rugged terrain, serves as both a tribute to Hugo’s legacy and a tribute to his love of nature and patient care.
