Singapore suspends Cordlife’s cord blood services Oct. 14 over storage failures and reporting lapses.
Singapore’s Ministry of Health has issued a one-year suspension notice for Cordlife’s cord blood banking services, effective October 14, 2025, due to ongoing failures in governance, incident reporting, and storage procedures.
The audit found 160 new units improperly stored, with some not reaching required cryopreservation temperatures, and 12,000 of 14,000 tested storage tanks deemed unsuitable, resulting in about 19,500 non-viable units.
A flawed clinical governance officer allowed incidents to go unreported, and collection bags were used despite temperature excursions.
Cordlife must replace the officer, retrain staff, review records, inform clients, and obtain haematologist approval for future use.
The company has 14 days to respond before the suspension becomes final.
