Singapore PRs abroad without a valid REP have 180 days to renew their status starting Dec. 1, 2025, or lose it permanently.
Starting December 1, 2025, Singapore permanent residents (PRs) abroad without a valid re-entry permit (REP) will have 180 days to apply for renewal without losing their PR status, under new rules from the Immigration (Amendment) Act 2023.
During this grace period, they may re-enter Singapore using a single-entry pass.
Approval within the window preserves PR status; failure to apply or rejection results in permanent loss with no reinstatement option.
The change replaces the prior rule that immediately stripped status upon leaving without a valid REP, even if reinstatement was sometimes possible within a month.
The new conditions will be implemented in phases, with full details posted on the ICA website.
