Royal Mail is hiring about 20,000 temporary workers starting late October 2025 to handle increased holiday delivery demand.
Positions include 12,000 sorting roles in England, 2,000 in Scotland, 600 in Wales, 400 in Northern Ireland, 3,000 delivery and collection jobs, and 2,000 HGV and MGV driver roles.
Staff will work across 37 mail centres, two parcel hubs, and four seasonal sorting centres in Atherstone, Milton Keynes, Northampton, and Daventry through early January 2026.
The effort supports peak shopping periods like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas.
Jamie Stephenson, Royal Mail’s interim chief operating officer, said the hiring reflects ongoing investments in staffing and infrastructure to ensure timely and reliable deliveries during the busy season.
