Pakistan launches zero-interest e-bike and rickshaw program with subsidies and digital access.
Pakistan has launched a zero-interest financing scheme for 116,000 electric bikes and 3,170 electric rickshaws/loaders in fiscal year 2025-26, with the State Bank of Pakistan and federal government collaborating on a digital platform.
The program, available through conventional and Islamic banks, offers capital subsidies up to Rs50,000 for e-bikes and Rs200,000 for three-wheelers, covering equity costs and eliminating upfront payments.
Repayments include only principal and insurance over two or three years, with no interest, processing, or early settlement fees.
At least 25% of units are reserved for women, 10% for small business owners, and 30% for fleet operators.
Vehicles must be EDB-approved, and applications are processed digitally using CNIC and digital driving license data, with NADRA and insurance services managed by the government.
