Wollongong’s The Lagoon Seafood Restaurant was fined $1,760 in May 2025 for food safety violations, including improper storage and cleanliness issues, after inspections found raw seafood above safe temperatures and expired products.
The breaches followed a 2024 warning, prompting corrective actions that were confirmed resolved by April 7.
The restaurant, operating since 1986, will close in July 2026 after the city council declined to renew its 20-year lease.
No foodborne illnesses were reported, and management attributed past lapses to staff error.
