Ireland's first televised presidential debate of 2025 featured three candidates ahead of the October 24 election.
The first televised Irish presidential debate of 2025 aired on Monday, September 25, at 10 p.m. on Virgin Media One, hosted by Kieran Cuddihy, featuring the three confirmed candidates: Catherine Connolly, Jim Gavin, and Heather Humphreys.
The candidates sat in pre-assigned positions, a change from traditional podiums, reflecting the reduced field of three—fewer than in recent elections.
The debate, expected to be more focused, precedes the October 24 election.
Each candidate will also appear in a 30-minute “Big Interview” with Colette Fitzpatrick, starting October 6.
