Indian court cancels "Croose" trademark, ruling it too similar to Crocs, protecting consumer clarity.
The Delhi High Court has ordered the cancellation of the Indian trademark "Croose," ruling it deceptively similar to the global brand Crocs. Issued on September 26, 2025, the decision by Justice Tejas Karia found that "Croose" is visually and phonetically nearly identical to "Crocs" and could mislead consumers, violating India’s Trademarks Act. Crocs Inc., the U.S. footwear company, had petitioned for cancellation, citing bad faith registration and its long-standing presence in India since 2005–2006. The trademark owner failed to respond despite multiple opportunities, leading the court to close their right to reply in April 2025. The court directed the Trade Marks Registry to remove "Croose" from the register and update its records and website within four weeks.
