Delhi High Court blocks Rupa's Constitution edition over copycat design, citing consumer confusion.
The Delhi High Court has issued an interim injunction against Rupa Publications, blocking the sale and distribution of its red-and-black pocket edition of the Indian Constitution, citing deceptively similar design elements to Eastern Book Company’s (EBC) long-standing version.
The court found the two editions nearly identical in color scheme, font, layout, and gold detailing, creating a high risk of consumer confusion.
Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora ruled that Rupa’s version likely misleads buyers into thinking it is EBC’s, harming brand recognition and causing potential irreparable harm.
Rupa must remove unsold inventory, delist the product online within two weeks, and halt all marketing.
The case is set for further hearing on February 25, 2026.
