A youth fitness festival in England, boosting access to weightlifting and confidence, is shortlisted for a national award.
The School Fitness Festival, launched in 2024 for students in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, has been shortlisted for the Young Person Impact Award at the 2026 School Games Impact Awards.
A collaboration between Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, The Academy Programme, and British Weightlifting, the initiative offers underserved youth access to functional fitness and weightlifting in dedicated gym spaces.
Supported by the Opening School Facilities Fund, the festival provides a non-competitive, social environment aimed at building discipline, confidence, and positive body image while promoting lifelong physical activity.
