A UK charity runs a bus-based resilience program for 240 Oxfordshire students to boost mental health and self-belief ahead of GCSE retakes.
A self-belief charity, I Can & I Am, is running a week-long mental health and resilience programme for up to 240 further education students across three Oxfordshire colleges, many preparing to retake GCSEs.
Part of Activate Learning’s MindGreen initiative, the programme includes 20 workshops held on two double-decker buses, starting with cooking a pizza and continuing with activities to build confidence and self-worth.
Founded in 2015 by James Shone after he lost most of his sight, the charity has supported over 30,000 young people nationwide and emphasizes inclusivity, including high needs learners.
The effort responds to rising youth mental health concerns, with one in five young people aged eight to 25 experiencing likely mental health challenges, and aims to equip students with tools to believe in themselves during a critical life transition.
