The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney opens "Task Eternal," a $18 million exhibition inspired by Ted Chiang’s novella *Tower of Babylon*, featuring a six-storey steel tower designed by Beijing architects Li Hu and Huang Wenjing.
Spanning 2160 square meters—the largest column-free space in Australia—the immersive installation includes aircraft, rockets, and artworks by Torlarp Larpjaroensook, James Turrell, and others, exploring themes of exploration and humanity’s place in the universe.
Divided into four acts—Skyward, Power, Off Earth, and The Return—the two-year exhibition showcases hundreds of objects from the museum’s collection, including a 1914 Bleriot XI plane and an F1 rocket engine.
It aims to inspire reflection through open-ended questions, marking Li Hu and Wenjing’s first major project outside China.
Entry details remain unclear.
